Driving Without Car Insurance

July 27, 2004

Last year, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles notified 72,489 drivers that their car insurance had lapsed. Nearly 23,000 of them never reinstated their insurance.

Individuals injured by uninsured -or underinsured motorists- may find it difficult to recoup their financial losses and may even find they have no way to pay significant medical bills.

It is estimated that approximately 250,000 people in the state are driving without car insurance but many people don’t realize they can protect themselves, at low cost, by increasing their uninsured motorist coverage.
