Law Firm Establishes Scholarship Fund at Housatonic Community College

January 3, 2007

BRIDGEPORT — The law firm of Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder announced today that it has donated $20,000 to establish a scholarship fund for Housatonic Community College students.

The Koskoff-Bieder Scholarship Fund will provide need-based scholarships for new students who also hold part-time employment.

“We are thrilled that Koskoff, Koskoff, & Bieder has donated such a generous sum to the Housatonic Community College Foundation,” said Barbara Johnson, President of the Foundation. “It is important that everyone has the opportunity for higher education. Scholarships make the dream of higher education a possibility for many in the Greater Bridgeport community.”

The Housatonic Community College Foundation has initiated a Major Gifts Campaign with a goal of raising $1 million by the end of the 2006-2007 academic school year. “We are seeking major support to address issues that will improve student achievement. The Pathways to Success Campaign seeks support for student scholarships, seed money to address business and industry needs for education and retraining, outreach efforts to increase the number of college-ready high school graduates and support for the College’s museum conservation and exhibition programs,” said Johnson.

The Koskoff-Bieder Scholarship was established as part of the law firm’s continued effort to support the Greater Bridgeport area. Two years ago, Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, together with other Bridgeport-based law firms and businesses, established the organization known as Attorneys and Businesses For A Better Connecticut which provides part-time employment to young adults residing in Bridgeport and who would not otherwise have the opportunity to work in white-collar environments.

The Housatonic Community College Foundation Scholarship Fund will administer the scholarship fund.
