Michael Koskoff named vice president of exclusive trial lawyers group

Attorney Michael P. Koskoff of Bridgeport-based Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder has been elected vice president of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an organization limited to the 100 top trial lawyers in the nation who represent injured clients in damage claims. Koskoff is the only member from Connecticut.

His two-year term as vice president will be followed, in 2011, by a two-year term as the organization’s president.

Attorney Mark Davis of Hawaii, newly elected Inner Circle president, called Koskoff “one of America’s most respected lawyers” and “a thoughtful teacher and an innovator in the courtroom.”

The Inner Circle of Advocates was founded in 1972 to help members exchange ideas about complex cases. To be eligible for membership, a candidate must have won multiple jury verdicts in excess of $1 million and tried a minimum of 50 cases to verdict.

Koskoff has practiced law in Connecticut for more than 30 years. He was the recipient of the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.

He has handled major cases involving medical malpractice, aviation, personal injury, drug product liability, anti-trust and civil rights. A Westport resident, Koskoff has been featured on the cover of Connecticut magazine and listed in “The Best Lawyers in America.”

Koskoff also handled litigation that was responsible for integration of the police and fire departments in Bridgeport and New Haven. He sponsors an annual lecture series at Quinnipiac College School of Law and helped to establish a trial courtroom at the University of Connecticut Law School.

In addition to its office at 350 Fairfield Ave., Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder has offices in Bridgeport and New Haven.
